Boy Scouts will be ‘Scouting for Food’ Saturday

Members of the Boys Scouts of America organizations in Barton County will be "Scouting for Food" this Saturday, Nov. 14. The public is asked to help by donating nonperishable food items to local food banks. Items can be donated from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day by leaving them in designated area at local grocery stores.

​Deines Center to hold Membership Gala

RUSSELL - The Deines Cultural Center will hold a Membership Gala from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20. The evening will include multi-media art, food and music by The Believers, a local band, and Patricia Davis, playing piano selections, including vocals. Admission is free.

Red and black ribbon day for GBHS

The Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education had a standing room only crowd Monday for the first few minutes of its meeting. Students, coaches and parents filled the meeting area and spilled into the hallway as Activities Director David Meter introduced six coaches, who in turn introduced all-conference student athletes who excelled in fall sports. The Great Bend High School Marching Band was also recognized for its fall honors.
