UCC to hold hog feed

Barton Community College has announced recipients of Excellence Scholarships for the 2010-11 academic year. To qualify for an Excellence Award, a student must have a grade point average of 3.5 to 4.0 and be enrolled full time at Barton. These awards are administered by Barton's Financial Aid Office. Senator Moran now accepting 2013 Service Academy applications
U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) is accepting applications for nominations to the United States Service Academies. The academies include the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. Those selected will enter the academies in June 2014.
BCARSP meeting
The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel met on May 10, at Montana Mike's in Great Bend. President Sally O'Connor presided over the meeting. There were 50 members and two guests present.

The following meals will be served May 20 through May 23. The secondary schools also have available daily: Main dish second choices, chef's salad, combo lunches and choice of vegetables and dessert. The breakfast menu is offered only to students in USD 428. Menus are subject to change without notice. Milk served with all meals. All meals as offered meet USDA nutritional guidelines.

At the invitation of Kansas Governor Sam Brownback, Ethan Kaufman, Russell High School, Taylor Fry, Great Bend High School and Conner Birzer, Ellinwood High School, were selected to attend the 30th Annual Governor's Scholars Awards Program on May 5, in Topeka.
