Rice County Historical Society receives grant

On Friday, October 18, the Kansas Museums Association awarded a 2013 Institutional Grant Award to the Rice County Historical Society. The award was one of two presented at this year's Annual Meeting of the Kansas Museums Association in Lawrence. The $500 award will be applied to the purchase of two dehumidifiers for the Historical Society's storage areas.

St. Ann's All School Reunion

St. Ann's All School Reunion was held on Sept. 28th. The celebration began with a reception at 1 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The school was open all day long for touring, reminiscing and picture taking. At 4 p.m. Les Winholz and the Catherine choir provided a polka mass. A bag piper led in the religious procession of 13 sisters (former teachers and home-grown sisters), one Franciscan Brother, one Deacon, Father Murphy and Bishop Brungardt. Kari Geshwentner and Kyle Kaiser were united in marriage on Sept. 27, at Eberly Farms in Wichita in a double ring ceremony officiated by Aaron Andrews, friend of the groom, of Great Bend. Parents of the groom are Jann Kaiser and Doug and Michelle Kaiser of Great Bend. Paternal grandparents of the groom are David and Dana Foss, Joyce and Mike Burnham all of Great Bend, and the late Vernon Kaiser. Maternal grandparents are the late William and Susan Turner.

Mark and Lindsey Bogner of Odin, announce the birth of their son, Otto Allen Bogner, on Aug. 14 in Great Bend. He weighed 8 lbs. and was 20 1/2 in. long. He has a 2 1/2-year-old big sister, Zoey Maye.
