The following well-balanced and nutritious Friendship Meals will be served for lunch at the Great Bend Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave. Meals are served with milk; donations for coffee and tea are accepted.
Advanced Therapy and Sports Medicine topped its inaugural food drive with a check donation to the Community Food Bank of Barton County earlier this month. "The Give Back Community Food Drive," held by ATSM through the month of October, netted a full grocery cart of food for the Food Bank.

The USD 428 administration and the technology committee are now looking at changing the options to allow local teachers to choose a laptop computer or a stand-alone computer and an iPad for school use.
USD #428 Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. on Monday at the Great Bend High School Library, 2027 Morton. Items on the agenda include Superintendent's Evaluation/Executive Session.

The weather says differently, but inside the Rosewood Service Inc. greenhouse, it's still tomato-growing season. In its first full year of operation, the greenhouse is filled to capacity with 265 tomato plants producing two varieties – brand names Celebrity and Truss. Their success is dependent upon a few dozen clients at Rosewood who work to care for and grow the tomatoes and then bring them to market.

The Otis Lions Club will hold a benefit Pancake Supper from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Otis Bison High school gymnasium. Cost per person is a free will donation. The 2nd Annual Pancake Races will start at 7:30 p.m. All proceeds will be used for Otis Beautification and youth projects in the local area with funds matched by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

On April 12, seven 4H'ers from Barton County, traveled to Alma to compete in the 2014 State 4H Air Rifle Match. There they competed against the best 4H air rifle shooters in the state. To qualify for the match, the 4H'ers had to shoot 400, or higher, out of a possible 600 points, at a qualifying match earlier in the year.
