Mildred Arlene (Tamerius) Wood 1921 - 2013

RUSSELL - Mildred Arlene (Tamerius) Wood, 91, died June 22, at the Hays Medical Center. Born Dec. 10, 1921, on the family farm in Taylor County, Iowa, she was the daughter of Hoyt and Hazel (Field) Tamerius. She grew up in Northern Missouri and Southern Iowa. On July 23, 1939 she married Francis Duane Wood. He died on June 3, 1981. Moving to the Russell area in 1977, she was a homemaker and was employed at the Russell Regional Hospital for several years.

​Conceal carry, contracts on BCC agenda

The Barton Community College board of trustees will vote on a resolution to ban concealed weapons from the campus during the board meeting set for 4 p.m. Thursday in room F-30 of the Fine Arts Building. The board will also have an executive session for discussion of personnel, followed by a vote on whether to extend the contract of Barton President Dr. Carl Heilman.

Rosewood Winery introducing four new wines in July

Rosewood Winery will begin celebration of the nation's independence holiday a few days early this year by introducing four new wines to the public on July 2. The wines will be available to the public at the Rosewood Wine Cellar, located at 1901 Lakin Ave. in downtown Great Bend. They can also be purchased at the Rosewood Winery during scheduled tours.
