ANDOVER - Cheryl Ann Harrell, 68, entered the arms of her Lord and Savior, March 29, 2015, at Life Care Center of Andover. Born Dec. 14, 1946, in Atchison she was the daughter of Wallace and Verdele Russell. In August 1965, she married the love of her life, Jon. She was a retired office manager for her husband's optometry practice. She worked with Jon in their offices in Larned and Great Bend, building his optometry practice until his death Jan. 1, 2006.

American AgCredit reports increased loan volume in 2014

SANTA ROSA, Calif. - American AgCredit, a farmer-owned financial cooperative, recently announced net income of $98.9 million for the 2014 calendar year along with a cash dividend distribution of $39 million to its shareholders. This compares to net income of $111 million and a cash dividend of $37 million in 2013. American AgCredit has returned over $250 million to its customer-owners since 2005.

​David A. Colyn Jr. 1960 - 2015

IUKA - David A. Colyn Jr., 55, died March 23, 2015, at Pratt Regional Medical Center. Born Feb. 21, 1960, in Denver, Colo. he was the son of David A. and Faye Colyn Sr. He was a former resident of McPherson graduating from McPherson High School. On May 26, 2005 he married Lillian Galletta in Pratt. He was a fabricator for Fab-Pro of Kingman.

Cougar softball breaks another streak in split with Butler

It was a weekend of almost for the Barton Community College softball team. The Cougars almost won three of the four games at the BUCO Bash at Butler Community College. They almost lost all four.
