The following well-balanced and nutritious Friendship Meals will be served for lunch at the Great Bend Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave. Meals are served with milk; donations for coffee and tea are accepted.
Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi shared a Sister Chapter Social with Laureate Kappa Jan. 15 at First Christian Church. The dinner was catered by Bernard's Catering of Hutchinson. The two chapters met separately for their meetings following the dinner.

Persnickety's Downtown Flea Market, 1201 Kansas in Great Bend, has seen a need in the community for assistance to low income families and have decided to help meet this need by contributing to the Barton County Food Bank.

Verl Lee Martin, 84, died Dec. 8, 2014, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. He was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Utica, to Clade and Sylvia (Everhart) Martin. He had been a Great Bend resident since 1971. He was retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad as a truck driver.
SALINA – Sunflower Bank has awarded 24 scholarships to local students in their communities who participated in the bank's Community Ambassadors Program. Scholarships ranged from $500 to $1,500 totaling $20,000 for the class of 2015.
