Strecker to offer class

ELLINWOOD - Dr. Catherine Strecker will be offering a Dementia/Alzheimers class for nurses, social workers and the public from 1-4 p.m. on March 8 at Educational Opportunities, 108 N. Bloodmobile comes to Great Bend Monday

Severe winter weather across much of Kansas forced the cancellation of 50 American Red Cross blood drives, resulting in a shortfall of more than 1,600 blood and platelet donations through the Red Cross Central Plains Region. Now that the storm has passed, eligible donors are encouraged to give lifesaving blood and platelets to help offset the current shortfall and ensure a stable supply.

Not The Onion

Separating satire from real news requires an advanced degree these days. When Jon Stewart becomes the most trusted newsman for millennials, the line between the evening news and The Onion gets blurry, so perhaps we shouldn't laugh so loudly at old Mitch McConnell, the Kentucky Senator who's up for re-election next year. But given the circumstances-he's responsible for using the filibuster to prevent even the clocks from ticking in the Senate-maybe we should.
