​BCC board reviewing bidding policies

A review of proposed revisions to Barton Community College's bidding procedures is on the agenda for this month's BCC Board of Trustees study session, set for 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, in Room F-30 of the Fine Arts Building. Among the proposed changes is the addition of this statement, "Projects with an estimated value in excess of $50,000 shall be submitted to the Great Bend Chamber Plan Room." The proposed changes also include a website where vendors can register if they wish to be considered for contracts.

Wanda Nadine Meyer 1932 - 2012

YUMA, Ariz. - Wanda Nadine Meyer, 80, died March 16 in Yuma, Ariz. Born Jan. 24, 1932, at Great Bend, she was the daughter of Edward and Sarah Etta Keys. A homemaker, she was a longtime resident of Great Bend and Yuma, Ariz. She married Arthur Hejny and later married Fred Meyer, who died in 2011.

Frank A. Meyer 1926 - 2012

ENID, Okla. - Frank A. Meyer, 85, passed away on June 1 at St. Marys Hospital in Enid, Okla. Born June 21, 1926, in Great Bend, he was the son of August and Geraldine Cheney Meyer. He was a 1944 graduate of Great Bend High School. On June 24, 1951, he was united in marriage to Barbara Brown in Great Bend. He was employed in the oil field supply business and retired in 1993 as an oil field engineer. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

If you have been to the library in the past few days, you will have noticed a big change! Many of the tables and chairs have been removed to make way for the "Hometown Teams" Smithsonian Exhibit. Great Bend student on Deans Honor Roll for Fort Hays State University

Sarah Jean Neeland, Great Bend, a 2012 graduate of Great Bend High School, has earned a place on the fall 2014 Deans Honor Roll at Fort Hays State University. She is a senior majoring in elementary education. The Deans Honor Roll includes undergraduate students only. To be eligible, students must have enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and have a minimum grade point average of 3.60 for the semester.
