ELLINWOOD - The Ellinwood School Board heard at its regular meeting this week that a local business is raising funds to donate an electronic scoreboard for the football field. The estimated cost is $16,000. The old one is from 1987 but was beginning to show its age, said Superintendent Ben Jacobs.
ELLINWOOD - Ellinwood High School Debaters Connor Birzer and Jenna Snell won the open division of the Arrowhead Invitational Tournament held at Hays High School on Sat., Oct. 8. The duo posted a 5-0 win-loss record and was the only team in the open division to have a perfect record. In the novice division, Rachel Doll and Rachel Schloctermeier also went 5-0 and placed 2nd, missing first place by only a few speaker points. LINDSBORG - Henrietta Hilda Dirks, 95, of Lindsborg, formerly Scott City, passed away Sept. 26. Born March 15, 1919 at Lodge Pole, Neb., she was the daughter of Louis R. and Caroline (Wagner) Misegadis.
LARNED - Glenn Scott Presley, 66, died Sept. 21, at Mayo's St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Min. Born Feb. 8, 1948, in Wichita, he was the son of Glenn and Ruby Elzey Presley. On Dec. 31, 1967, he married Linda Walker in Marquette. She survives. After graduating from McPherson College, he moved to Larned to begin teaching high school industrial arts classes. He managed the Larned Swimming Pool for 25 years. He was a loving husband, a caring father, and a very proud grandpa.
