Archie Leonard Beller, 103, of Great Bend, died Sept. 13 at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation Center in Halstead. He was born May 16, 1908, at Athol, to Charles L. and Margaret Rebecca (Comstock) Beller. He married Lavona Besta "Joe" Moore on Nov. 10, 1928, at Phillipsburg. She died March 6, 2002.
GARDEN CITY - Eula Illene Smith, former Copeland and Sublette resident, and for the last year and a half a resident of Homestead Assisted Living, in Garden City, died Sept. 7 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. Born April 5, 1922, in St. John, she was the daughter of Roy and Opal (Williamson) Lowry. On Sept. 10, 1942, she married Elbert C. Smith in Liberal. In 1942, they farmed in the Copeland area and moved to eastern Kansas, then moved back to Copeland in 1974. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1987. She taught at the Sublette Elementary ...
David L. Hays, 76, of Great Bend, died Sept. 13, 2011, at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. Services are pending with Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend.
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Patricia L. (Pat) Wiltse passed from this life on June 25 in Everett, Wash. Patricia was born to Charles (Chuck) and Karline (Dyer) Wiltse on Jan. 6, 1940, in Hays. She was raised most of her life in Great Bend.

A free program on Digital Mammography will be offered at 1 p.m. Friday at the Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave. Great Bend Regional Hospital staff will talk about their new full field digital mammography machine that shows great promise in the fight against breast cancer.
The annual celebration and meet-n-greet of Barton Athletics and the community will take place this Sunday, Sept. 21. Hosted by the Cougar Booster Club, the event will kick-off at 6 p.m. at Jack Kilby Square in downtown Great Bend with social interaction including free refreshments.
The Golden Belt Community Concert Association will present "Simply Sinatra" as its first concert of the season. The show features Steve Lippia, accompanied by a 10-piece big band, singing many of the songs made popular by Frank Sinatra. Lippia is noted for blending classic and contemporary styles in his music. The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Great Bend Municipal Auditorium, Lakin and Stone.
