Rec Commission to consider selling property

A proposal to sell the Great Bend Recreation Commission's property at 1917 17th St. will be considered when the GBRC Board of Directors meets at 4 p.m. Monday at the Carl Soden Recreation Center, 1214 Stone St. Board members will also hear a report on the Morning Basketball Association/Noon Basketball Association Hall of Fame and on the upcoming state conference of the Kansas Recreation and Parks Association.

Donald (Don) Eugene Fosdick 1953 - 2012

RUSSELL - Donald (Don) Eugene Fosdick, 58, of Russell, died Feb. 9 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born Nov. 24, 1953, in Ellinwood, the son of Donald T. and Geraldine K. (Cope) Fosdick. He grew up in the Great Bend area and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1972. He was a welder and was the owner and operator of Western Welders in Oklahoma for over 15 years. Lot of ag activity on the way

There is a lot of activity over the next few months in the area involving agriculture. Before we get to that, a comment is in order regarding the weather. Long-range modeling seems to indicate at least a temporary change in the weather pattern that has characterized winter so far. Unsettled weather is likely at least for the next 10 to 14 days.
