Conceal-carry exceptions on commission agenda

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The agenda includes a rezoning request in Olmitz, firearm conceal-carry exceptions in county buildings and the Grain Belt Express wind energy transmission line.

Hotel Photographs Needed for New Exhibit

The Rice County Historical Society Coronado Quivira Museum is seeking photographs of and items from old hotels in Rice County. Photographs and items are needed by Oct. 8th. The photographs and items will be used in an exhibit "Places to Stay." The photographs and photographed copies of items will be incorporated into a traveling exhibit between Oct. 8 and Oct. 18. This is the first traveling exhibit to be created by the museum staff. The exhibit will be available to schools, civic groups, banks, community festivals, and assisted living facilities.
