Great Bend Fire Department Firefighters made five ambulance runs on Wednesday. At 11:48 a.m. they extinguished a car fire at 465 South U.S. 281. A 2009 Chevy Cobalt had fire in the dash area and smoke inside the passenger compartment. Damage was estimated at $1,500. The Barton County Health Department and the Records Division of the Sheriff's Office will also be closed both days. The Barton County Landfill will be closed on Thursday.
