Barton County to host state shoot

Barton County 4-H will be host to the State 4-H Shooting Sports competition Saturday, April 16, at the Expo grounds west of Great Bend. The disciplines included in this competition are Air Rifle, Air Pistol and BB gun. There are over 250 4-H members age 9 -18 years old registered for the event.

USD 428 summer menu

USD 428 Great Bend School Food Service will offer the summer lunch program at Riley, Park, Eisenhower and Lincoln schools. The program will run from June 3 through June 27 (Monday through Thursday). Breakfast is served at Park and Riley only. There is no charge for anyone age 1 through 18. Sites are open to all children regardless of where they attend school. Parents may eat with their children for $3 for lunch or $2 for breakfast. All food must be consumed on site.

Brian Fry retires from KDOT

Brian Fry, Engineering Technician Senior for the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT), will retire on June 1 after 13 ½ years of valued service to the State of Kansas. As an Engineering Technician Senior in the Great Bend KDOT Office, Fry was lead inspector on numerous highway construction projects in Barton, Pawnee, Rice, Rush, and Stafford Counties. After retirement from KDOT, Fry plans to continue working in another area of employment.
