GBHS forensic team brings home 10 medals

The Great Bend High School Forensic Team competed in the Nickerson Forensic Tournament on Saturday, Febr. 26. Eleven students competed and brought home 10 medals. They had four State Speech Championship qualifiers and placed fourth overall in sweepstakes. 29 schools competed at the tournament. The rankings are as follows:

82d Airborne Returns from Afghanistan

The 82d Airborne Division has returned from Afghanistan after completing their missions over a two year period. This division has been America's No.1 fighting division since World War II, also highly decorated.

Rufus P. Fimple will celebrate his 90th birthday with a card shower. He was born March 3, 1921, in Bacca County Colo. After graduating from Sterling High School, he attended Kansas State University on a track scholarship, until being drafted for military service. Five students qualify to Sems at District National Qualifying Tournament

The Great Bend High School Forensics Team competed at the District National Qualifying NFL Tournament on Friday and Saturday April 19th and 20th. Twelve students competed which consisted of: Nathaniel Cheney, Kenna Dirks, Michael Gieck, Clara Kachanes, Sarah Keller, Mallorie McNett, Jordan Otten, Chase Pumford, Jesus Sandoval, Kane Schumacher, Kameko Schultz and Paige VanSteenburgh.
