The Dominican Sisters of Peace will show the 2009 movie, "The Ben Carson Story," at 6:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in the auditorium of the Motherhouse, 3600 Broadway Ave., Great Bend. A Hoisington man died Sunday night or early Monday when the motorcycle he was driving went off NW 30 Ave. in Barton County.

HOISINGTON - Marlin Ray Hughes, 51, died Dec. 3, in Barton County as the result of a motorcycle accident. Services are pending with Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Road, Great Bend, Kansas.
Pearl Corrine Birzer, 93, died Nov. 28 at New Horizons Care Center in Lovell, Wyo. Born April 3, 1919 in Hoisington she was the daughter of Frank and Liva Della (Sharp) Eveleigh. On Aug. 11, 1943 she married Leonard Andrew Birzer in Great Bend. He died on July 29, 1995. A lifetime resident of Barton County, moving to Cody, Wyo. in 2007, she was a bookkeeper for Rice Engineering and retired in 1986 from the Great Bend Job Service Center.

Barton County Office Buildings will be closed Monday, Jan. 19, for Martin Luther King Day. The Records Division of the Sheriff's Office and the Health Department will also be closed. The Landfill will only be open from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. that day. Emergency services will be in normal operation.

James J. Rossman, 86, of Albert, and Rachel D. Hill, 30, of Larned, were injured Friday when vehicles they were driving collided in Barton County. The accident occurred at 4:15 p.m.

Helen Marie Steincamp, 84, died Jan. 10, 2015, at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. Born Oct. 12, 1930, at Redwing, she was the daughter of Joseph R. and Anna Marie (Proksch) Dietz. She was a 1948 graduate of Hoisington High School.
