Archie "Galen" Allen

Archie "Galen" Allen, 73, died March 4 at home in Great Bend. He was born Jan. 25, 1938, at Great Bend, the son of Archie Roy and Rosetta Mae (Smiley) Allen. He married Barbara Leah Feaster on Jan. 1, 1963, at Windsor, Mo. She died June 29, 2006. He worked for the Boeing Company in Seattle, Wash., as an engineer. Mr. Allen was a lifelong resident of Great Bend, also living in Bozeman, Mont., Seattle, Wash., and Torrance, Calif.

Wilma G. Dannebohm

ELLINWOOD - Wilma G. Dannebohm, 75, died March 7 at Stafford County Hospital in Stafford. She was born May 3, 1935, at Midian, the daughter of Ted and Irene Waterman Zimmerman. She graduated from Ellinwood High School. A lifetime Ellinwood resident, she was a nurse at Ellinwood District Hospital, a florist at Flowers and Things and a secretary at Immanuel United Church of Christ, all of Ellinwood.

NESS CITY - Gilbert Philip Rebel, age 84, passed away on March 5 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born on Feb. 18, 1927, in Schoenchen, the son of Joe and Lena Zimmerman Rebel. He was a farmer and he worked for Ness County road maintenance for 37 years.

Patrick A. Dunegan

KIMBALL, Neb. - Patrick A. Dunegan, 73, of Kimball, Neb., died March 3 at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colo. Born Sept. 6, 1939, in Ellinwood, he was the son of Patrick and Mildred (Powell) Dunegan. He was raised and attended school in Great Bend. He married Carol L. Wenger on Sept. 15, 1957, at Great Bend. The family moved to Kimball in 1958 and he worked with Curley Hensley doing metal fabrication in the oil field. He retired in 2007.

LIEBENTHAL - William W. "Bill" Legleiter, 85, of Liebenthal, passed away March 6 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. Born on Nov. 11, 1925, in rural Liebenthal, he was the son of Nick and Katie (Urban) Legleiter. He married Rita Giebler on Nov. 27, 1946, in Catharine. He was a farmer and stockman who was known to be a hard working man. He had served on the La Crosse Co-op Board and School Board and was a 4-H leader in Liebenthal.

Great Bend man faces charges of child porn

WICHITA - A Great Bend man appeared in federal court in Wichita Monday on charges of producing child pornography, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said. Shawn Marshal Christiansen, 36, was charged with one count of producing child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.
