Quivira Public meetings scheduled

A series of public meetings for Quivira National Wildlife Refuge are scheduled for three area communities. Quivira has completed a draft Comprehensive Conservation Plan for public review. The goal of the Plan, or CCP, is to provide guidance and management direction for all Refuge programs for the next 15 years. It includes a vision statement and supporting goals, objectives, and strategies.

BCC dorm bid, contracts on Thursday's agenda

Faculty contracts and bids for a new dormitory are on the agenda for the next Barton Community College Board of Trustees meeting, set for 4 p.m. Thursday in room F-30 of the Fine Arts Building. The board is also expected to approve a resolution that will combine financing for the new dorm with refinancing debt on the 1999 debt for construction of the Cottonwood Hall dormitory.

Maddox 40th

Brad and Rickee Maddox will celebrate their 40th anniversary on April 21. The couple was married on April 21, 1973 in a meadow at the Crane Farm in rural Geneseo. Their children are Benn Maddox and wife Shanna of Great Bend and the late Richard Maddox. They have two grandchildren, Gavynn Richard and Mylee Rae.

Sterling College seniors to display work in senior art exhibition, “Unearthed”

Four Sterling College art and design seniors will display their final body of work at the senior art exhibition which opens with a reception from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 25th. The exhibit titled "Unearthed" will be on display in the Art and Media Center gallery located at the corner of 8th and Washington through May 15.

USD 428 Board of Education meeting

USD 428 Board of Education will meet at noon on April 23 at Eisenhower Elementary School, 1212 Garfield. Items on the agenda include 2013-2014 School Calendar, approval of paper bids, approval of licensed personnel resignations and licensed personnel appointments; and act on resolution to nonrenew contract on a nontenured teacher.
