Correction: No trial date has been set for Longoria
An article in Sunday's Great Bend Tribune concerning the court case of Adam Longoria contained an error. Longoria's next motions hearing is scheduled to take place in March in Barton County District Court. A date for his trial has not yet been set.
One injured in weekend rollover
A car went off 150 SE 10 Road at approximately 10:50 p.m. Sunday, striking the embankment and rolling onto its top, after the driver swerved to miss a bump. The driver, Jonathan R. Allende, 14, of Great Bend, was taken to Central Kansas Medical Center with undetermined injuries.
M. Earl McBride 1915 - 2011
LARNED - M. Earl McBride, 95, died Jan. 22 at the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. Born Sept. 2, 1915, at Kinsley, he was the son of Edgar and Elsie Miller McBride. On April 30, 1937, he married Fern Myers in Fellsburg. He was a farmer.

Robert Zane "Pete" Wilson 1932 - 2011
Robert Zane "Pete" Wilson, 78, died Jan. 23 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Feb. 21, 1932, at Glade, the son of Edward and Zela (Elliott) Wilson. He married Imogene Barnes on Jan. 2, 1953. They were later divorced. He was a carpenter for Albert Lumber Yard and later worked as a self-employed carpenter. He had been a Great Bend resident since 1998, coming from Ellinwood and Albert.

Historian Yarmer to talk about trade beads

Great Bend Police are looking for a suspect with one green, size nine boot. Its mate was apparently dropped during the getaway, Detective David Bailey said Monday. Meth case draws life sentence
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – One of the leaders of a drug trafficking operation that sold methamphetamine in Great Bend, Topeka and Kansas City has been sentenced to life in federal prison without parole, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said Monday. Food Bank donation
On a recent afternoon visit to the Barton County Food Bank the volunteers were scurrying about trying to assist local residents who were overflowing the waiting room, many with children in tow, hoping for emergency food assistance. It clearly demonstrated the urgency of ongoing needs still existing for local families in Barton County as well as the critical commitment needed from the community for ongoing financial support for this worthwhile endeavor.
Full entry takes 8th at State
On Saturday May 4th the Great Bend Forensics squad traveled to Emporia High School for the 5A State Championship Speech Tournament. They competed in 16 events, which gave them a full entry. Placing 8th out of 25 schools, the team had five events break into semifinals.

Power lines, homes damaged by storm
