Since May 11-15, is designated as "Bike to Work Week" it seems fitting that I share my passion for this fun activity in my column space today. Although research shows around 1 percent of adult Americans commute to work by bicycle, roughly 41 percent of work commutes are shorter than 5 miles. The Great Bend City Band announces their Summer 2015 schedule. The May and June concerts will be held at the courthouse square band shell at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, June 4, June 11, June 18 and June 25th. A special jazz band concert will also be held at 8:15 p.m. at the band shell on June 26th. In case of inclement weather, the outdoor concerts will be moved to the Crest Theatre.

On April 1, winners of the Great Bend Sunflower Bank branch Pay for A's were drawn. The winners were paid $10 for every A made and a matching contribution was made to the school's they attend.
