A vehicle driven by Saul Moreno Leal was backing from a parking stall in the 1800 block of Main St. at 7:58 p.m. Sunday and struck a vehicle driven by Rachelle Widener, who was also backing up. Leal reportedly left the scene and was stopped at Seventh and Main, where he was arrested for driving without a license. He was booked into the Barton County Jail and released after posting a $500 surety bond.
The Ness County Sheriff's Office reports recovering a gun stolen from Great Bend. Ness County contacted the Great Bend Police Department at 11:54 p.m. Saturday to report it had recovered the weapon previously reported stolen.
An individual on a dirt bike eluded police Saturday night after allegedly committing traffic violations on Third Street. The incident occurred at 10:33 p.m. and officers were unable to locate the bike after it went through a field.
Great Bend Police are investigating an accident that occurred Saturday when a vehicle struck a pedestrian at 10th and Frey. David Mack was reportedly driving east on 10th St. at 6:11 p.m. and struck Robert Galliart, who was walking south on Frey St. Galliart was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital, where he was treated for a broken wrist and released.
ELLINWOOD -The Ellinwood School/Community Library will be closed for cleaning and maintenance July 17 through July 20. The library will reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 23.
HOISINGTON -The Clara Barton Foundation awards scholarships annually to local applicants interested in the pursuit of education in a medical field of study through scholarship endowments that have been established over the years. The Foundation awarded seven $500 scholarships this year.
