The Golden Belt Community Foundation recently completed its third competitive grant cycle for 2012 and awarded $10,122.54 to charitable agencies and projects in Barton, Pawnee, Rush, and Stafford counties.
Kansans who enjoy visiting the state parks can count on at least two annual rituals – renewing their vehicle registrations and buying their annual park permits. Currently, these tasks must be completed on separate occasions, at different buildings or online locations, and using separate transactions. That's about to change, thanks to a partnership between the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT) and the Kansas Department of Revenue (KDOR).

"Orphan" is a very empty word. It conjures up images of loss, of being rootless, of unwanted and untenable liberty. When I think of "Orphan," I think of something flying around in the great human universe, searching for its home.
Although the drums, bugles and color guard equipment have been put away long ago, the strong friendships and shared memories remain. Great Bend and Barton County's Argonne Rebels alumni, friends and supporters will gather on July 11, for a reunion in Great Bend.
