On Monday, Oct. 15, at the Hoisington Novice Debate Tournament, the Great Bend High School debate squad had four novice teams compete. Three teams placed and all were undefeated with a perfect three and zero win/loss record. Jordan Otten and Kameko Schultz placed first with perfect speaker points. ELLINWOOD - Wayne Simien, former University of Kansas basketball standout, will be at Ellinwood Schools on Tuesday, Oct. 23, to speak with students. Mr. Simien received All American honors his junior and senior years at KU and was the BIG 12 Player of the Year his senior year. He was also the Lowe's Award Winner his final year, recognizing him as the nation's top senior men's basketball player. KU retired his number 23 jersey on Jan. 29, 2011.
