The Fuller Brush Company is pleased to announce that Martin Brack has joined the company as Manufacturing/Design Engineer, effective June 1. Mr. Brack is originally from Albert. He completed high school at Otis-Bison. After completing a Bachelors degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from Kansas State University, Martin was employed as an Application Engineer in Valley, Neb., where his duties included design and development of tools, parts and systems used in irrigation. Martin will be providing much needed assistance and support to Fuller's engineering department.
Visitors to the annual summer festival in Lee's Summit, Mo., on June 3 and 4 were treated to a flash mob dance performance by more than 50 staff and members of the local Jazzercise fitness center. The flash mobs were to raise awareness for Alzheimer's Disease in a fun manner.

The Great Bend Class of '76 will be having their 35 year class reunion Labor Day weekend 2011. A family day planned on Sept. 3, first taking a tour of Brit Spaugh Zoo and then immediately after a tour of GBHS to see the amazing changes that have taken place over the years. League of Women Voters of Great Bend will hold the monthly meeting at noon on Tuesday, at The Club at Stone Ridge. Lunch will be from the menu. The program will be provided by Lily Akings who will be discussing the high incidence of teen pregnancy. The luncheon is informal and time will be allowed for discussion from the floor. The public is invited to attend and participate in the discussion.

The descendants of Adam and Clara Hanzlick Hejny held their annual reunion on June 5 at the Carl Soden Recreation Center in Great Bend. A potluck dinner was swerved. Hostesses were JoAnn Atkins and Shelly Brown.
The following well-balanced and nutritious Friendship Meals will be served for lunch at the Great Bend Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave. Meals are served with milk; donations for coffee and tea are accepted.
USD 428 Great Bend School Food Service will offer the summer lunch program at Riley, Park, Eisenhower and Lincoln schools. The program will run from June 1 through June 24 (Monday through Thursday). Breakfast is served at Park and Riley only. There is no charge for anyone age 1 through 18. Sites are open to all children regardless of where they attend school. Parents may eat with their children for $3 for lunch or $2 for breakfast. All food must be consumed on site.

Wayne and Carol Prather of Sterling announce the engagement of their daughter, Mallory Kay Prather, to Benjamin Charles Gaeth, son of Randall and Teresa Gaeth of Solon, Ohio. Mallory is the granddaughter of William and Dorothy Stoss of Great Bend.
Dennis and Dianne Call will celebrate their 40th anniversary with a trip to Winter Park, Colo. in July with their children, Chad and Shannon Somers of Great Bend, John and Stephanie Hixson of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Chad and Sarah Nelson of Shawnee; and their five grandchildren, Ellyson, Ethan and Eli Somers and Jack and Luke Hixson.
Ingrid D. Trinka, 67, died Feb. 18 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Jan. 3, 1947, at Hillsboro, she was the daughter of Harold and Myrl Berg.
ELLINWOOD - A benefit fundraiser poker tournament will be held for 11-year-old Kadin White, who is suffering from acute lympoblastic leukemia, beginning at 1 p.m. on Feb. 23 at the Ellinwood American Legion, 117 N. Santa Fe. White also has Down Syndrome and has an infection. He is in Wesley Medial Center in Wichita.
The Barton County Fair Association announced Thursday the signing of county group Parmalee to perform at this year's Barton County Fair. Parmalee will perform on Friday, July 11, with special guest the Jared Daniels Band.

HUTCHINSON - Betty L. Nairn, 84, died Feb. 17, 2014 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
The Clara Barton Hospital Foundation is currently seeking applicants for their 2014 healthcare career scholarships. Each year the Foundation desires to present several individuals with scholarships. Scholarship amount varies with the merits of the application and funds available from the endowments. The four scholarships to be awarded are: Jonathan Witt Scholarship, Sadie Stalcup Scholarship, Verda Lane Nursing Scholarship and Dr. Robert Moore Scholarship. Application deadline for all scholarships is April 1, 2014.
