HAYS - After finishing second during the regular season with a 5-1 record, the Larned third and fourth grade Junior Indian football team went 2-1 in the eight team Tournament of Champions to earn third place in the Western Kansas Football League.

Tryouts for the Volleytech Sports Club youth volleyball teams will be held on Sunday, Nov. 13, at the Hoisington Activity Center.

"Where God guides and provides" is the central theme for "Wilderness Escape" Vacation Bible School at First Christian Church, 5230 Broadway Ave., Great Bend. The church will hold its annual VBS from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, through Thursday, July 24.
Actors from Prince of Peace Parish will host a pageant performance of the symbolic story, "The Miraculous Apparitions of the Virgin Mary," at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, in the Shafer Art Gallery at Barton Community College. The Our Lady of Guadalupe Pageant is being done in conjunction with the "Estamos Aqui" exhibit at Shafer Gallery.
The Trinity Lutheran Church Social Concerns Team will host its annual fundraiser and the proceeds this year will be donated to the Oaks Indian Mission in Oklahoma. MANHATTAN - There have been a number of videos interviewing people concerning their knowledge of historical and political information. This method of interviewing started with Jay Leno. It was then picked up by Sean Hannity, and later by several others. The results are both interesting and concerning.
The International Spy Academy is a Vacation Bible School where kids get to be special agents for God, according to sponsors at Community Christian Church in Great Bend. This Vacation Bible School starts Sunday and will be offered from 6:30 to 9 p.m. July 20-24 at the church, located at 253 NE 30 Road, just east of Barton Community College. It is intended for children who have completed kindergarten, through middle school.
"BARTON DYNASTY: Hunting for Bucks" is the theme for the 36th Annual Barton Foundation Big Benefit Auction, which this year's honorary co-chairs, Toby and Kristy Hogan, find rather fitting as the owners of the hunting service, "Central Kansas Whitetails." Only the "bucks" being hunted in this case are green, have presidents' faces on them and they help local students pay tuition at Barton Community College.

An Otis woman was injured Tuesday evening on a Barton County road, 4 miles north and 3 miles west of Galatia.
The Kansas Department of Commerce announced this week that 25 nonprofit organizations, including the Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer Foundation, will share $4.13 million in tax credits under the Kansas Community Service Tax Credit Program. Since 1994, CSP has helped nonprofit organizations undertake major capital fund-raising drives for various projects.
An attempted fraud was reported to the Barton County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday. Someone called a Barton County resident saying her grandson was in trouble in New Mexico and needed help. The woman hung up before finding out what kind of "help" was wanted, and instead called her grandson, who said he was fine.
