Olive Marie Gage 1916 - 2012

HOISINGTON - Olive Marie Gage, 96, formerly of Hoisington, passed away Nov. 27 at her daughter's home in Olathe. Born Oct. 29, 1916 in Gypsum, she was the daughter of Elmer and Lillian Elva King. Her father was a United Brethren minister and the family moved many places including Topeka, Wichita, Salina and Glendive, Mont. Olive met her husband Leonard Gage at a church camp in Beloit, and they made their home on a farm north east of Hoisington for 65 years.

Richard “Dick” Mead 1929 - 2012

STERLING - Richard "Dick" Mead, 83, died Nov. 26 at Wesley Medical Center. Born May 23, 1929 in Sterling, he was the son of Rollin and Essie Smith Mead. In 1947, he graduated from Sterling High School. On Oct. 30, 1955, he married Margaret "Beth" Terrill in Sterling, Colo. She died on March 31, 2012. A resident of Wichita since 2009, formerly of Sterling, he was retired as president and superintendent for Sterling Drilling Company.

Janice (Jany) A. Aylward 1950 - 2012

HOISINGTON - Janice (Jany) A. Aylward, 62, died Nov. 26 in rural Hoisington. Born Feb. 23, 1950 in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Harlan (Mac) and Velma (Beck) McMillin. She was a 1968 graduate of Hoisington High School. On June 6, 1969 she married Michael Aylward in Hoisington. A lifetime resident of Hoisington, she was a rural postal carrier. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, family and friends and was always willing to help anyone. She took great pride in serving the patrons on her rural mail route and considered them all family.
