LARNED - Marilyn May Phemister, 78, died Jan. 19 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Born May 23, 1933 in Aledo, Ill., she was the daughter of Paul E. and Margaret Litzenberger Black. A longtime resident of Larned, she was a retired elementary school teacher. On Feb. 18, 1974, she married Charles L. Phemister in California. He survives.
ALBERT - Elda M. Schroeder, 95, died Feb. 21 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend. She was born Nov. 20, 1916 at rural Pawnee County, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Gerdes) Hanken.
YUKON, Okla. - Lillian I. Hoffhaus, 91, died Feb. 20 at Integris Health Care, Yukon, Okla. Services are pending with Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Road, Great Bend.
Nathan Brungardt of Great Bend has been selected by the Foundation for Rural Education and Development (FRED) to attend the Leadership through Learning program from April 22-27 in Washington, D. C. Nathan is the son of Dan Brungardt and is a junior at Great Bend High School.

Crimes Stoppers is seeking information on a daylight burglary that occurred Feb. 3 at a Great Bend residence. Police Chief Dean Akings reports that sometime between 7:30 and 11:10 a.m., someone entered the residence at 1401 Wilson St. through the garage door. A flat-screen television, computer and monitor, hand tools and many power tools were stolen, and the residence was damaged. Loss and damage will exceed $17,000.
