'Widow's Mite' fundraiser will help Emergency Aid

E. Ross McBee 1939 - 2011
LARNED - E. Ross McBee, 71, died on Feb. 11 at St. John. He was born Nov. 26, 1939, at Fowler, the son of Cecil Frank and Virginia Gene Beaver McBee. A resident of Larned since 1962, he was retired from the Larned State Hospital.
Joy Amalie Deighton 1918 - 2011
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Joy Amalie Deighton passed away on Feb. 10 at age 92. She was born in Rosetown, Saskatoon, Canada on Aug. 5, 1918, to Joseph and Josephine Suchy, who moved from Kansas to homestead in Canada in the early 1900s. While in Canada, Joy and five sisters were born before the family returned to Kansas.

School summer menu
USD 428 Great Bend School Food Service will offer the summer lunch program at Eisenhower, Jefferson, Lincoln, Park and Riley Elementary schools. The program will run from June 3 through June 27 (Monday through Thursday). Breakfast is served at Park and Riley only. There is no charge for anyone age 1 through 18. Golden Belt Community Foundation accepting grant applications for July
The Golden Belt Community Foundation invites proposals for its upcoming competitive grant cycle. Applications now are being accepted from qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations and public institutions, including schools, government entities, and clubs and civic/community organizations in Barton, Pawnee, Rush, and Stafford counties. Funds are available primarily for the health and well-being of youth; however, limited funds are available in many other categories.
Caring for container plants
