CLAFLIN - Donna Rae (Krier) Hoffman, 66, of Mt. Vernon, Mo., died Aug. 21, at her home. Born Feb. 11, 1947, in Pueblo, Colo., she was the daughter of the late Richard and Myrtle (DeLair) Krier. Donna was a 1965 graduate of Claflin Kansas High School and graduated from West Hills College in San Diego, Calif., where she attended from 1965-1968, earning a degree in Accounting. On Feb. 12, 1997, she married LeRoy J. Hoffman in Claflin. They resided in Claflin until 2000, moving to Mt. Vernon, Mo., to retire. Daryl "Tippy" Ferguson 1961 - 2013

Daryl "Tippy" Ferguson, 52, died Aug. 22 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born April 4, 1961, at Great Bend, to Donald Gene and Opal Ann (McKnight) Ferguson. He married Sharon M. Thompson June 27, 1981, at Great Bend. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he was a dispatcher for Horizon Express.

Hoisington Bible Church hosting reunion service

HOISINGTON - In 1941, several believers in Hoisington organized a Bible class called the Hoisington Bible School. Every Sunday afternoon this group of 10 to 15 people met for service. In 1942, the church began to flourish and the name Hoisington Bible School was changed to Hoisington Bible Church (HBC). Eventually the need to incorporate led the church to file appropriate papers with the state of Kansas on Aug. 26, 1943.

Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a vehicular burglary that occurred sometime between Aug. 1 and 17 in Great Bend. According to Police Chief Dean Akings, someone broke into a black 2008 Ford F-150 pickup at 3119 25th St., and removed a handgun and binoculars with a combined value of $3,838. "Removed was a Kimber Pro Tactical 2, .45 caliper handgun, serial #KR140900, olive in color with a black slide and with checkerboard grips, and a Swarowski 12 x 50 binocular with strap," Akings said.
