GBHS Debate places four and gets Grand Champion Title

On Oct. 20, the Great Bend High School debate team traveled to Valley Center High School to compete with two varsity, one junior varsity and four novice teams against 30 other schools with 40 varsity, 39 junior varsity and 66 novice teams. In varsity division, Michael Gieck and Jordan Stoulil placed 8th with a 4-1 win loss record and 26 speaker points. "Open was a great experience I hope to do better next time" Stoulil stated.

Lewis sworn into office

After receiving official notification last week from the Governor's office, Greg Lewis (R-St. John) was sworn into the Kansas House of Representatives this morning to represent the 113th District. The oath of office was administered by Secretary of State Kris Kobach. Lewis will complete the term of Basil Dannebohm who resigned from office last month.

Ellinwood High School Band has good showing at league festival

The EHS band had a good day at the league music festival on March 10 at Barton Community College. The band received First Division Ratings from all three judges at the festival. The Brass Ensemble and Clarinet Ensemble both received "I" ratings and the Saxophone received a "II" rating, missing a "I" by one point. Additionally each of the soloists from the band received First Division ratings for their solos. They were: Elizabeth Frakes, flute; Mikayla Monday, bass clarinet; Hunter Pemberton, trumpet; Katelyn Robinson, trumpet; and Rachael Dickson, marimba.
