The New England Patriots did not wait until Aaron Hernandez was charged with murder to cut ties with the troubled tight end, releasing him from the roster on Wednesday morning soon after police led him from his house in handcuffs.

City Band concerts

The Great Bend City Band will be performing at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday night at the city band shell. A special 16 piece jazz band concert will be presented at 8:15 p.m. Friday, at the band shell. Twelve classic jazz band selections will be presented. In case of inclement weather, these concerts will be moved indoors to the Crest Theatre.
