Well, it's that time of year again and the annual After Harvest Festival is upon us. I hope everyone who chooses to attend the festival has a very enjoyable time and takes in every event made available to them. With that said, I believe it necessary to remind everyone who attends the After Harvest Festival to be aware that there will also be an increase in law enforcement during this time. Shell may be ready for the Arctic, but its oil spill barge isn’t

SEATTLE – A unique ice-class barge designed to clean up any oil spills that might result from Shell Alaska's upcoming operations in the Arctic Ocean has so far failed to acquire final U.S. Coast Guard certification. VA mobile office coming to Great Bend this week

The Kansas Commission on Veterans' Affairs Mobile Office is coming to Great Bend this week. The air-conditioned mobile office staffed with veteran service representatives will be at the Great Bend Dollar General store, 5318 10th street, from 2-7 p.m. Today, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
