Randy Myers is running for re election for the city council position in the fourth ward. Randy has served in the position since 2006 and has served for six years or three terms. The 17th Annual Kansas Iwo Jima Reunion and Dinner was founded by the late Walt Vincent in 1996. This is the inaugural year to include other World War II veterans. The event will be on May 5 at the Arden H. McKee American Legion Post #128, 108 East Garfield in Sterling, The door will open at 2:30 p.m. for refreshments and viewing of memorabilia. All veterans are invited and encouraged to bring personal memorabilia.
Thomas Boor is running for City County of the Third Ward in Great Bend. Thomas was born and raised in Great Bend and graduated in 1983 from Great Bend High School. After graduation he served in the United States Navy. Following his service he attended Devry Institute of Technology in Kansas City.
The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel met at the Club at Stone Ridge at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 9. President Rose Kelly called the meeting to order and led the flag salute. Becky Dudrey gave the invocation. Forty-eight members and two guests, Joyce Weeden and Doneida Baker, were present. The 2015 Great Bend Farm and Ranch Expo will be held Wednesday through Friday, April 8, 9, and 10, 2015 in Great Bend. The show is located at the Expo Complex west of town. The show hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on the 8th, 9 a.m.- 7 p.m. on the 9th and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on the 10th with extended hours on Thursday.
