The Seventh-day Adventist congregation celebrated the grand opening of its newly constructed sanctuary located at the corner of 10th Street and SW 30th Ave. (one mile west of 10th and Patton Road ) on Saturday, Jan. 5.
CLAY CENTER - "Will you pray for us? My wife and I wish to have children." Several years ago I went on a mission trip to India and heard this request many times as I ministered among the people. They wanted to exhaust all means in trying to have a family. It made a deep impact on me. The Scriptures say, "Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward." (Psalm 127:3)
The library of the Barton County Historical Museum will be anything but quiet on Wednesday, when the musical group Jody Adams & the StringDudes performs. This toe-tapping mix of folk-string-gospel-grass-acoustic music starts at 7 p.m. and is presented by the Barton County Arts Council and the Barton County Historical Society. Seats are $10 and will be sold at the door.
CLAFLIN - A fund raising dance will be held for area resident Bryce Steiner from 8-11 p.m. on Saturday at the new Claflin Community Center (old Claflin grade school) to help with medical costs. The cost is a free-will donation.
Will the Republican Party's 2012 national rout have an impact? Will it become more a moderate (excuse the "dirty" word) conservative party that tries to inch back to George W. Bush's stated goal of a more "compassionate conservatism" that would appeal to growing, Democratic-inclined demographics? As Tony Soprano said: "Fuhgeddaboudit!"
