Legislative forums scheduled Saturday

Representative Mitch Holmes and Senator Allen Schmidt have scheduled a pair of Legislative Forums Saturday at Larned and Rozel. The Larned Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Legislative Forum from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m at 502 Broadway in Larned. Coffee and donuts will be provided. For information, call (620) 285-6916. Beryl V. Drumm 1924 - 2012

PONCA CITY, Okla. - Beryl V. Drumm, 87, died Feb. 22 in Ponca City, Okla. Born Dec. 6, 1924, in Longford, he was the son of Frank and Esther (Russell) Drumm. In 1942 he graduated from Longford High School and in 1952 from Kansas State University. On April 15, 1949, he married Ida Elizabeth Stetler. He coached and taught in Alton, Alta Vista, Cedar Point, Sabetha, and Bushton before retiring in 1988. In 2007, he moved to Ponca City, Okla.

HOISINGTON - On Feb.18 Hoisington High School student Hannah Wilborn traveled to Tabor College to perform at the State Piano Festival. Wilborn earned a I (one) rating on her piano solo. She earned a I (one) rating both at the District and State Piano Festival.

Ten Rules for Planting Trees

Since the approval of the Community Orchard, I have been spending time researching and planning how to start the process. We decided on a date to get our young trees into the ground, so to celebrate, I thought I would share with you ten rules for planting trees. Our plant date for the orchard is Saturday, April 11, at 1 p.m. if you are interested in helping get this community project started.
