BCC enrollment increase ranked second in state

A news release recently published by the Kansas Board of Regents shows Barton Community College attracted the second largest number of new students compared to the other 18 community colleges in Kansas. In the fall semester of 2011, 257 students found their way to Barton's campus for the first time.

BCCC board plans Fort Riley retreat

Irene T. Nagel 1921 - 2012

LACROSSE - Irene T. Nagel, 90, of La Crosse, died Feb. 24 at the Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in La Crosse. Born Oct. 29, 1921, in rural Albert, she was the daughter of Herman Henry Dietrich And Hilda Anna Christina (Tammen) George. She married Virgil H. Nagel on Nov. 8, 1945, at Peace Lutheran Church in Albert. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1987. A resident of La Crosse since May 2006, moving there from Larned, she was a laundress at the Larned State Hospital until her retirement.

The 2015 Great Bend Farm and Ranch Expo will be held Wednesday through Friday, April 8, 9, and 10, 2015 in Great Bend. The show is located at the Expo Complex west of town. The show hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on the 8th, 9 a.m.- 7 p.m. on the 9th and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on the 10th with extended hours on Thursday.
