Jury selection in Barton County starts with a list of driver license records from the Kansas Department of Revenue, Division of Motor Vehicles, consisting of regular and commercial license holders in local zip codes. Sometime between 6 p.m. on Aug. 5 and 7:15 a.m. on Aug. 8, the Great Bend Co-op at 1600 Kansas Ave. was burglarized. Police Chief Dean Akings reports windows were broken to gain entry. Fire extinguishers and flashlights were stolen, for a total loss of $320.

The Hoisington City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
The annual Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area information night will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Kansas Wetland Education Center. The Ed Center is located northeast of Great Bend on Highway 156 in the southeast portion of the Wildlife Area.
The Heartland Cancer Center HCC and its support group will host a special visitor who wants to inspire people to give of themselves on behalf of those who are battling cancer. Josh Wolf will be at the HCC, 204 Cleveland St., at 4 p.m. Thursday to tell his story.
Barton Community College's Director of Emergency Medical Services Education Karyl White and Consulting Medical Director Dr. Joel Hornung were honored by the Kansas Emergency Medical Services Association (KEMSA) on Aug. 13 during an awards banquet at the Marriot Hotel in Wichita.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of senior Alexis Langdon and junior Amanda Lessard led Larned High with a runner-up finish in the Larned Tennis Tournament. Langdon and Lessard finished with a 3-1 record at No. 1 doubles, beating teams from Hoisington, Cimarron and Lyons.

An Oklahoma man was died and two others were injured Friday in a one-vehicle rollover accident in Pawnee County, 2.5 miles west of Larned on U.S. 56.
