Pickup burglarized over weekend

Crime Stoppers seeks information about a vehicular burglary that occurred between 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, and 6:50 p.m. on Sunday in Great Bend. Police Chief Dean Akings said a 1995 Toyota pickup parked at 1400 18th St. was broken into and items stolen.

Chloe M. White, 67, of Great Bend, died May 13 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born July 25, 1944, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Samuel Ellis Snyder and Margaret Marie Senko. She was a 1962 graduate of Ellinwood High School. On July 21, 1962, she married Larry D. White at Ellinwood. She was a housekeeping supervisor at Ellinwood District Hospital, retiring in 2003.

​College trustees to vote on renewing contracts

Contract renewals fill the agenda for the next Barton Community College Board of Trustees meeting, set for 4 p.m. Thursday in the Seminar Room, F-30 in the Fine Arts Building. Following an executive session for discussion of personnel matters, the board will vote on renewing contracts for faculty, head coaches, management staff, the vice president and deans, and the college president.

Dangerous heat indices are expected again Tuesday. Heat index values will range from 105 to 110, with the highest values in southern Kansas. Roxie Bernice Swinger 1921 - 2015

Roxie Bernice Swinger, 94, died on June 24, 2015, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born on April 4, 1921, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., she was the daughter of Alonso Noel Trent and Amy Garrett Trent. On July 20, 1940, she married Jack E. Swinger in Wichita.

STAFFORD - M. Sharon Chansler, 84, went to be with the Lord July 11, 2015, at Leisure Homestead in St. John. Born Dec. 13, 1930, at Eureka, she was the daughter of Emmett and Masil McDaniel Hall. A 1948 graduate of Langdon High School, she also attended Adalahale Business College in Hutchinson. On Dec. 24, 1950, she married Paul W. Chansler while Paul was on leave while serving with the United States Army. They were married for over 64 years. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, she was a homemaker and business partner with her husband in Paul's Grocery of Stafford ...

Phillip Lee Bryant 1952 - 2015

CHASE - Phillip Lee Bryant, 63, of rural Chase, passed away July 11, 2015. Born Jan. 15, 1952, in Great Bend, he was the son of Charles and Dorothy Bryant. On May 5, 1972, he married Teresa Malea Campbell in Lyons. They were married 37 years. She passed away on Nov. 15, 2009. He was employed by Silica Grain for 32 years. He was currently employed with Ellinwood Tank Service. He loved spending every minute with his family. He also enjoyed taking his grandson on trips and spending lots of time with him.
