Members of the Pilot Club of Great Bend recently became aware of the need for car booster seats for some young children. The club donated thirty of the seats to children at Head Start, Helping Hands Pre-School, the Applied Learning Center and Share and Care Pre-School. RSVP wants to thank all of Santa's helpers that made lap robes for residents of the Barton County assisted living and nursing facilities during the past year. RSVP delivered 84 lap robes to three nursing facilities and four assisted living facilities for residents in need during the holiday season. Destiny Degenhardt and Jaime Loera were united in marriage in an outdoor, double ring ceremony officiated by Tom Swain on June 28, at Lake Barton Golf Course. Parents of the couple are Tiffany Degenhardt of Great Bend and Rosalinda Loera of Great Bend. Grandparents of the bride are Larry and Shirley Degenhardt of Great Bend.
Catherine (Esfeld) Birzer will celebrate her 90th birthday on Nov. 23, with a card shower. Catherine is the daughter of the late Fred and Francis Esfeld. On April 27, 1948, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Birzer. He is deceased. Catherine has four children, Melvin (Twila) Birzer, and Connie (Keith) Miller, both of Great Bend, Steve (Brenda) Birzer, of Ellinwood, and Jane (Bob) Carr, of Edmond, Okla.; 27 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
