Two people from Bazine were taken to the Ness County Hospital on Wednesday after a car struck another car making a U-turn on K-96, half a mile west of Bazine in Ness County.

Vehicles burglarized on Christmas day

Crime Stoppers is seeking information about Christmas-day burglaries that occurred in Great Bend. Police Chief Dean Akings reports that between 1 and 8 p.m. on Dec. 25, vehicles parked in the apartment complex at 717 Coolidge St. were burglarized. Items taken included an Alpine stereo; a Springfield 9 mm handgun with two magazines, holster, pouch and ammunition; a Blade Scout remote control helicopter; a Python keyless entry system; cigarettes; hand tools; and cash. Loss exceeded $3,100.

Children Act Fast; So Do Poisons

In a few short months our youngest grandson will be mobile and that means we will need to child proof certain areas of our home. Children should be curious, but curiosity can turn dangerous if kids are getting under the kitchen sink or into the medicine cabinet where hazardous chemicals and adult medicines are kept. In recognition of National Poison Prevention Week, I want to use my column space today to remind you about storing hazardous materials out of a child's reach.
