CLAFLIN - Lyle Kent McDermed, 78, was born Jan. 17, 1936, in Lyons, to Carvin and Wilma (Kent) McDermed. Lyle passed away April 6, 2014. Lyle spent his childhood in Kansas where he was a graduate of Claflin High School and Emporia State University.

Barton Community College professionals will offer resume assistance and teach attendees how to create an effective resume during workshops offered this week. The resume workshops will be offered at 3 p.m. Tuesday and 1 p.m. Wednesday in room 117 of the BCC Library. They are open to students and community members.
Marquita Boehnke, longtime Ellinwood resident, retired March 31 after 39 years of service with the Central Kansas Library System. Boehnke served as the Youth Services consultant and worked with libraries in 17 counties.
