The Rehab Services Department at St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center capped off a month's worth of activities late in October with a "Fit Kids" program for Holy Family students. The occasion was in observance of National Physical Therapy Month.

Car hits pickup on edge of Great Bend

A Dodge Charger driven by Edna Holguin, 20, of Lewis, rear-ended a Chevrolet 2500 pickup driven by Michael Hart, 37, of Yale, Okla., Wednesday on U.S. 56 on the southwest edge of Great Bend.

Holiday survival guide for diabetics

An educational program designed to help people with diabetes with food choices during the holidays will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the St. Dominic Room at St. Rose Ambulatory and Surgical Center. Donna Krug, Barton County Family and Consumer Science Agent, will share information about portion size and sweeteners. She will also give participants ideas on how to manage their diet during the season known for rich foods. Healthy refreshments will be served. The program is free an open to everyone. Aquarians exhibit at library

The November art exhibit at the Great Bend Public Library is a group effort by "The Aquarians": Mary Lee Adams, Esther Maher, Elaine Pugh, Bev Simonson and Barb Unrein. These Great Bend artists have filled the Fine Arts Room of the library with a fall showing of paintings, ceramics and jewelry. The public is invited to meet the artists during a reception from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at the library.

Six Hondas stolen from storage

Crime Stoppers of Barton County and Great Bend is seeking information on the theft of six Honda motorcycles and a Honda snowblower from a storage shed at 901 Morphy St. in Great Bend. Police Chief Dean Akings reports that storage unit 712 at that address was broken into twice between Aug. 24 and Oct. 30. Two padlocks were damaged.
