BCC to offer private pilot ground school

Prospective pilots from the area will have a chance to learn the fundamentals of flying as Barton Community College will offer private pilot ground school classes from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 9 through May 9, in BCC's Technical Building, T-178.

Norman W. Stieben 1918 - 2011

OTIS - Norman W. Stieben, 93, died Nov. 29 at his home in Otis. Born Oct. 24, 1918, in Brownell, he was the son of Fred and Julia (Schlegel) Stieben. In 1938, he graduated from Otis Rural High School. He was a lifelong resident of Otis.

As the holiday travel period looms, average retail gasoline prices in Kansas have fallen 5.5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.11 per gallon Wednesday, kansasgasprices.com reported. This compares with the national average that has fallen 4.1 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.31.
