VICTORIA - James R. "Jim" Kuhn, 63, died Thursday, March 24, at St. John's Health Care Center in his hometown of Victoria.
MACKSVILLE - Eldon Ernest Lutz, 79, died March 24 at the Stafford County Hospital. The son of Ernest Franklin and Kathryn Alice (Brenn) Lutz, he was born Nov. 1, 1931 in rural St. John. Eldon was a resident of Macksville since 1982 and formerly of St. John, where he farmed. On June 15, 1951, he married Delores (Yarmer) at Great Bend, and he then married Betty J. (Freeman) DeGarmo on Apr. 2, 1982 at Macksville. She survives of the home. His memberships include Macksville Christian Church and the VFW. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
March 31 will be Terri Hurley's last day as public relations director at the Great Bend Public Library. After 34 years of service to the library and the community, she is retiring.
Grant applications for the final round of funding for the Golden Belt Community Foundation's Nutrition and Physical Activity Initiative are now available.
