Scheuerman Reunion

The annual reunion of family and friends of Conrad and Rosa Matal Scheuerman was held Aug. 6 and 7 at Camp Aldrich. The family gathered Saturday for a barbecue, swimming and games. Sunday activities included a church service conducted by Todd Scheuerman, dinner and swimming. The reunion ended Monday with breakfast at Perkins restaurant.

Learning Opportunities for People of All Ages

Three year old granddaughter, Calyn, starts next week as a peer model at Helping Hands Pre-school. It does not feel like sixteen years have passed since our son Matt was a peer model in the same program. I would say the "Helping Hands" program has stood the test of time and shown how successful learning can occur when matching children with special needs along side a few peer models.

GBCF announces 2011 Ryan Hugh Dunlap Memorial Scholarship recipients

The Golden Belt Community Foundation recently awarded a scholarship from the Ryan Hugh Dunlap Memorial Scholarship Fund. Ryan's family created a scholarship fund for students wishing to enter the fields of education and/or sports medicine. As a graduate of Great Bend High School, Barton Community College, and Southwestern College, Ryan was tirelessly dedicated to his students and athletes. His lifework was as an athletic trainer and physical education teacher. He took pride in the camaraderie of team sports and watching his student's succeed.
