Margaret Reichuber will celebrate her 90th birthday with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 13 at the American Legion, 204 North Main, in Hoisington. Addison Baxter, a senior at GBHS, has been selected for the Kansas Music Educators Association District Honor Jazz Band which meets this Saturday in Dodge City. Members were selected through recorded auditions. After a day of rehearsal, the jazz band and middle school band and choir will give a concert at the Dodge City Middle School auditorium starting at 3:45 p.m. There is a small admission fee, and the public is invited to attend.

LACROSSE - Eugene Dale Sell died on July 2. Born on Aug. 10, 1929, in La Crosse, he was the son of Jacob and Mayme (Rickter) Sell. Gene attended school in La Crosse, graduating in 1947. In high school he excelled in all sports, especially in basketball and football. Upon graduation, Gene accepted a scholarship to Garden State College in Garden City. Upon leaving college, he took a job with Gross Drilling Co. of Eldorado, and in 1951, was sent to Pawhuska, Okla. for "six months work and never left." This mother with twin fawns is knee deep in water at the Cheyenne Bottoms. A lot of people are surprised to discover a thriving deer herd in our marsh. Jim Glynn got beautiful pictures of a doe with triplets. This herd roams the farm land adjacent to the refuge and also feeds on the Nature Conservancy ground that is nearby.
