9th Highlander Reunion and Car Show

If you were in high school between 1953-1963, you no doubt experienced The Highlander Drive-in, formerly located on the northwest corner of Central and Edgemoor. The public is invited to participate in the 9th reunion to be held at the Marriott Hotel, 9100 Corporate Hills Drive jJust north on Webb Rd and Kellogg). The car show will be from l to 4 p.m. in the Marriott Hotel parking lot, with a display of classic cars. Admission and entry are free with a dash plaque for each entry. Vivian Grossardt will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, at the Claflin United Methodist Church, Third and Hamilton in Claflin. GBMS Employee of the Month

Beth Rein was nominated by her peers for the GBMS Employee of the Month for going the extra step with her students. Beth works very hard to get each student on track and keep them on track. She is known to work before and after school to help her students. Her job is extremely challenging, but she gives 110% every day.

Tommy Max Schulz 1934 - 2015

GREAT BEND - Tommy Max Schulz, 81, died April 8, 2015 at Arkansas Veterans Home at Fayetteville in Fayetteville, Ark. Born Feb. 16, 1934, in Chapman, he was the son of Walter Joseph and Marcella (Keegan) Schulz. On Dec. 23, 1958, he married Donna Fay Richards in Kanopolis. She died on Aug. 26, 1985. He earned his bachelor and master degrees fro Fort Hays State University. A resident of Great Bend since 1962, coming from Hays and moving to Wichita in 2005, he was an English teacher at Roosevelt Junior High and Great Bend Middle School.

STAFFORD – Steven Wayne Stueve, 51, passed away April 5, 2015 at his home in rural Stafford. Born May 13, 1963 in Great Bend, the son of Kenneth and Agnes Stoecklein Stueve. Steven grew up in Great Bend. He was a 1981 graduate of Great Bend High School.
