Library's Muppet movie marathon ends Wednesday

Great Bend Public Library, 1409 Williams St., conclude a three-day Muppet movie marathon at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Free movies are also scheduled for teen and adults, according to Jennifer King, marketing director.

Rec Center has openings in life science class

The Great Bend Recreation Commission has a few openings left for its Exploration of the Science of Life class, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon July 23-26 at the Great Bend Recreation Center, 1214 Stone St.

CBH offering specialty clinc

HOISINGTON -Clara Barton Hospital is offering expanded Surgical and Specialty Outreach Clinic across the street from the hospital in one building. The building, located at 351 and 353 W. 10th Street in Hoisington, has been renamed to Clara Barton Hospital's Surgical Specialty and Outreach Clinic.

Class AAA zone tournament set to start Monday

The pairings for the Class AAA American zone tournament, set for Monday, July 23, through Wednesday, July 25, in Hays, have been established.

STAFFORD - M. Sharon Chansler, 84, went to be with the Lord July 11, 2015, at Leisure Homestead in St. John. Born Dec. 13, 1930, at Eureka, she was the daughter of Emmett and Masil McDaniel Hall. A 1948 graduate of Langdon High School, she also attended Adalahale Business College in Hutchinson. On Dec. 24, 1950, she married Paul W. Chansler while Paul was on leave while serving with the United States Army. They were married for over 64 years. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, she was a homemaker and business partner with her husband in Paul's Grocery of Stafford ...

Phillip Lee Bryant 1952 - 2015

CHASE - Phillip Lee Bryant, 63, of rural Chase, passed away July 11, 2015. Born Jan. 15, 1952, in Great Bend, he was the son of Charles and Dorothy Bryant. On May 5, 1972, he married Teresa Malea Campbell in Lyons. They were married 37 years. She passed away on Nov. 15, 2009. He was employed by Silica Grain for 32 years. He was currently employed with Ellinwood Tank Service. He loved spending every minute with his family. He also enjoyed taking his grandson on trips and spending lots of time with him.
