WICHITA - The Jehovah's Witnesses' district convention will be held July 6-8 at the Century II Convention Center, 225 West Douglas Ave., Wichita. An estimated 8,000 people will attend this event and/or the Spanish convention to be held Aug. 17-19 for Bible-based programs, sponsors said.

OLMITZ - Magdalene Josephine Bartonek, 95, died June 28 at Galichia Heart Hospital, Wichita. Born March 18, 1917, at Olmitz, she was the daughter of Joseph J. & Anna (Priesnitz) Nemlowill. She married Abe Bartonek Nov. 26, 1940, at Hoisington. He died 1984. A lifelong Olmitz resident, she was a homemaker.

Richard Kirby Petersilie 1966-2012

TOPEKA - Richard Kirby Petersilie, 46, died June 25, 2012 at the Rush County Memorial Hospital in La Crosse. Born March 12, 1966 in Ness City, he was the son of Ory Petersilie and Mickie Malone. He attended Otis-Bison High School in Otis. A resident of Topeka for more than 25 years he was employed by Emerson Construction of Topeka and was working on a project in La Crosse. He was formerly a mechanic for Topeka Travel Plaza for many years.
