The Great Bend Recreation Commission is holding its annual Longest Tail Feather contest. Pheasant hunters can bring the tail feather from their prize bird to the GBRC office, 1214 Stone St., during pheasant season.
HOISINGTON -FOCUS (Fostering Our Community's Unique Strengths) announces that Hoisington has received a sizable pledge to kick off their fundraising efforts to restore pride in Hoisington's Pride Park on East Third Street. FOCUS hopes to raise more than $80,000 to make much-needed improvements to the park.
ELLINWOOD -At the TMP-Marian Monarch Invitational debate tournament on Nov. 5, Ellinwood High School novice debaters Shiani Hughes, Tawny Arndt, and Rachel Schloctermeier won the novice division with a perfect 5-0 record. Hughes was also named top novice speaker in the tournament.
LARNED - The Fort Larned Historical Society will sponsor a presentation "Orphan Trains in Kansas," by Marilyn J. Holt at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14 at the Santa Fe Trail Center Museum and Library. The presentation will be part of the annual meeting for the Fort Larned Historical Society.
