2012 Extension Appreciation Award

Each year the Executive Board selects someone who has dedicated a significant amount of time to Extension educational programs in Barton County to receive the Extension Appreciation Award. This year the honoree named was Karen Kramp from Ellinwood.

Giving the Gift Of Education: Students receive $19.2 million in scholarships from university donatio

More than 9,400 academic scholarships have been awarded to Kansas State University students for the 2012-2013 school year. Overall, students have earned more than $19.2 million in scholarships for the current academic year -- nearly $1 million more than the previous year.

BCC trustees to look at vehicle purchases, naming rights

The Barton Community College Board of Trustees will consider 2013 vehicle purchases when it meets at 4 p.m. Tuesday in room F-30 of the Fine Arts Building. There will also be a report on the accreditation checkup by the Higher Learning Commission. Other action items include approval of personnel and naming rights for the Kirkman practice gym floor. Larry and Kathy Schugart have agreed to pay for the new floor and the administration recommends naming it the Schugart Court.

Extension Programs Focus on Health and Wellness

It is fairly common that my educational programs and workshops emphasize a common theme of health and wellness. The annual Walk Kansas program is just around the corner, so it is time to start rounding up your team members for that successful program. Packets are ready for team captains to pick up at our office and the Great Bend Recreation Commission. I also plan to deliver some packets to the recreation commissions in Hoisington and Ellinwood.
