B. Marie Schwartz, 82, died March 22 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. She was born April 16, 1929, at Liebenthal, the daughter of Alex and Mary (Doerfler) Pfeifer. She married Maurice C. Schwartz on July 29, 1947, at Liebenthal. She was a nurse's aide and volunteer at Central Kansas Medical Center. Mrs. Schwartz was a Great Bend resident most of her life, coming from Liebenthal.
Maxine Rogers will celebrate her 101st birthday on March 27 with a card shower.
HOISINGTON - Phyllis Y. Nulton, 80, died March 23 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born Jan. 12, 1932, at McAllen, Texas, the daughter of Pierce and Gertrude (Phillips) Wikoff. She married Tom Nulton on Oct. 21, 1951, at Hays. She worked in retail sales for Ann's Dress Shop in Hays and Verna's in Hoisington, and as an office manager for over 25 years at State Farm Insurance, Hoisington. She had been a Hoisington resident since 1967, coming from Hays.

WICHITA - Carolyn Ann Risley Hill, 62, of Wichita, passed away March 20, surrounded by loved ones, following a short but valiant battle with cancer.

ELLINWOOD - Norbert Luebbers, 86, died March 24 in Ellinwood. He was born April 24, 1926, is rural Barton County, the son of Henry and Josiphine Straub Luebbers. He married Anna Lee Kawasky Luebbers. An Ellinwood resident, he had worked as a pulling unit operator for Steven's Well Service until his retirement in 1988.
SUN LAKES, Ariz. - L.C. Marion Harmon was born Nov. 9, 1931, in Tecumseh, Okla., to Walter Fred Harmon and Dorothy Katherine Jones Harmon.
Barton County resident Richard W. Unrein announced his intention to file for the Republican nomination for Barton County Sheriff. Unrein said he would bring his law enforcement, management and leadership experience to the Sheriff's Office. His focus would be to provide service, cooperation, communication and protection to the citizens of Barton County.

Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer Foundation announced Wednesday that all of the $215,000 in tax credits awarded to the organization by the Kansas Department of Commerce earlier this year have been purchased and will allow the organization to contribute $300,000 to Barton Community College toward the rebuilding of the Camp Aldrich conference center/dining hall that was lost in a fire early in 2014.
